QSYS + Dante Troubleshooting

Modified on Fri, May 5, 2023 at 9:37 AM

When running Dante on a QSYS Core, there are a few best practices to keep everything happy.

Because the Core is always on, we can leave the Core as the clock master. We can do this a few different ways depending on the model of the Core.

There are 2 different clock masters we're trying to control here:

  • V1 Multicast is the Dante clock
  • V2 Multicast is the QLAN clock

In the case with multiple Cores on a network, one should the clock master for both QLAN and Dante. Everything will sync to the one Core as devices come on and off the network.

Open up the design file in Q-SYS Designer. Disconnect and go to File > Design Properties.

PTP Priority:

  • Audinate doesn't go under 100
  • Set Core to 99 or below to force it as clock master over all other Dante devices

Force PTP:

  • Only need to force PTP if no QSYS devices are on that network
  • Force PTP only when trying to enforce the Core as clock master
