Understanding Jam-Sync

Modified on Fri, Apr 14, 2023 at 4:59 PM

In our setups, if you notice a Decimator with an HDMI feed as well as an SDI feed, this is what we refer to as jam-sync.

It allows the Decimator to pull a clocking source via SDI program feed so that the switcher does not have to use a frame sync (via the reference page on the Carbonite in dashboard) to clock the source.

Without a frame sync or the ‘jam-sync’ those video inputs will have problems going through the switcher.

The MD-HX should have their ‘DUC-REF’ source set as ‘SDI’ in the menu, which is the essentially the setting for that jam sync.
